Our old sunglasses were made by injection molding – hot plastic shot into metal molds using giant machines. This year we've upgraded all our frames to handcrafted acetate – a premium, plant-based plastic material, and the universal choice for top shelf eyewear.
Every step in the 50-point, 60+ day acetate production process ensures a more durable, comfortable and beautiful sunglass: Mixing and baking that perfect tortoise swirl or deep color, cutting each frame from large acetate sheets, tumbling each pair for days in cedar wood chips, hand-shaping each component, and a final, multiphase round of heavy polishing. The result is a superior-quality, extra-comfortable, long-lasting pair of sunglasses (that also looks amazing AF).
Yes, acetate costs more to produce, but that doesn't mean its price should be sky high. We're a lean machine – without shareholders, company Ferraris, or other bulky corporate overhead, our nimble office and in-house design team allows us to bring you this premium eyewear heat at a fraction of the price.
